From 17 to 22 of April Moscow hostedthe Russian swimming championship. The Russian championship was of paramountimportance for all athletes since the swimmers’ qualification for the nationalOlympic team depended on their performance at this competition
According to the results ofthe championship the student of the Ural State Mining University NikitaLobintsev got the opportunity to compete in the Olympics for three medals: inthe relay races of 4 × 100m, 4 × 200 m, and individually in the 100m freestyle.
It should be noted that Nikitatook the silver medal in the most prestigious and unpredictable 100m freestyleand received the Olympic license in this event. The distance really looks likea lottery, and it is again confirmed by the fact that in the heat Nikita’s timewas better than that of the gold winner Danila Izotov in the final.
The company having anadvertising contract with the swimmer provided his parents with an opportunityto go to the London Olympics to support Nikita.
Students and teachers of theMining University heartily congratulate Nikita Lobintsev, his family and coachValeriy Shevelyev on the success and wish the athlete to win the Olympic goldin London!
