The Ural Mining University is not tired of accepting guests of honor. And today a new Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Dmitry Kobylkin made a friendly visit to USMU. The visit was not planned, but turned out to be full of content and enjoyable for both sides. Having arrived just for a minute, a mining engineer-geophysicist Dmitry Nikolayevich Kobylkin was willing to stay with us forever.
The meeting was very emotional. Last week, there was a contest at USMU «Severny (Northern) Vector. Strategy Development of Russia», which was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO). The works of 20 000 children from 37 cities, 40 kindergartens, 90 schools were made on northern themes. Dmitry Nikolayevich got a chance to view the exhibition and was glad of the attention paid by the Mining University to YNAO. Before the governor the Orchestra of USMU performed under the conductance of the Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Pavlov, who created a furore. Our guest was so impressed that despite the lack of time, he asked the orchestra to perform an encore.
In the Tsar's Hall the Governor met with students' activists, including the guys from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The Governor of YNAO told about the future strategy of the region development, as well as about the urgent need in qualified specialists. On this occasion, we can say only the following: the Yamal has potential, we have students, future specialists for it.
Dmitry Nikolayevich visited USMU Geological Museum, where he acquainted with the exposition and history of the Ural Mining. The unique exhibits of the Room of Gold is the pride of our institution. Almost every piece has its own name. However, the Governor's attention was attracted by the emerald nugget, having no name. Now, due to Dmitry Kobylkin and consent of the Rector Nikolai Kosarev, the emerald nugget was named «Severnoye Siyaniye (Northern Lights)».
The Governor left his opinion in the book of honorable guests of the Geological Museum, among them prominent scientists, Soviet and foreign statesmen, military leaders, astronauts, artists, writers, cultural and honoured art workers, besides, the chairman of the Communist Party of China Mao Tse Tung, the Prime — Minister of India Dzhavaharlar Nehru and Indira Gandhi, head of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh, the President of Indonesia Republic Sukarno, President of the Council of Ministers of the USSR N.I. Ryzhkov, Russia President B.N. Yeltsin, cosmonaut Georgy Grechko and many others.
Collaboration between the first institution in the Urals and the region, occupying a leading position in Russia on oil and gas reserves, is necesary for effective development of economy in our great country.
